Racial Disparities in Incarceration
Our systems are failing Black cis and trans women, femmes, gender nonconforming people, and non-binary folks.
They are the fastest-growing jailed population in the United States. Moreover, Black women are:
2x more likely to be jailed than white women.
More likely to die in jail than men.
More likely to to experience abuse while incarcerated.
This isn’t justice. It’s systemic harm.

Criminalizing Poverty
Bail isn’t justice, it’s punishment for being poor.
60% of women in jails haven’t been convicted of a crime, they're legally innocent, but are being kept from their families because they can’t afford bail. The median bail for a felony is $10,000—8 months of income for the average detained person.
